Leave a gift in your will
The Samuel Johnson Birthplace Museum is always grateful for every gift we receive, and a wonderful way to help us further is to consider leaving us a gift in your will.
Your generous gift would help us to ensure that our building and collections are preserved for generations to come.
Leaving a gift in your will isn’t complicated but we recommend that you seek independent legal advice from a solicitor. By leaving a gift you may also be able to reduce the inheritance tax liability of your estate.
There are several ways that you can leave a gift to in your will:
Leaving a share of your estate
After taking care of your loved ones, you may wish to consider leaving us a percentage of your estate. The percentage, no matter how small, will make a huge difference.
Leaving an unrestricted gift
Unrestricted gifts allow us to divert funding to the area most in need, for example repairing the building, restoration, acquisitions, or a specific project.
Leaving a gift towards a project
It might be your wish to restrict your gift to a specific project, for example the acquisition of a book, a new exhibition, or restoration project. If you are considering restricting your gift to a specific project, please contact us to discuss what you have in mind.
Leaving an item/s
You may wish to give a specific gift, such as a valuable book, painting, or a property. Due to limited space, we are unfortunately unable to accept every object that is kindly offered to the Museum, so please contact us in the first instance if you are thinking of leaving a specific item/s.
