Bookshop

Every purchase helps fund the running and care of the Samuel Johnson Birthplace Museum. By shopping with us you are helping to support this special place.

Our Bookshop stocks new, second-hand, and antiquarian books, as well as Birthplace keepsakes, Lichfield souvenirs, and unique gifts for book lovers.

We take pride in supporting local artists, and where possible we sell from independent and local suppliers.

History

Our Bookshop is located in the same room where Samuel Johnson’s parents ran their bookselling business from 1709.

Support us

To keep our second-hand and antiquarian bookshelves well-stocked we rely on the kind donation of books. The money made from the Bookshop helps us look after the Museum.

If you would like to donate books, please speak to a member of staff in the Bookshop or email us at sjmuseum@lichfield.gov.uk
