DESCRIPTION:Join popular speaker Sheelagh James for a festive evening of Christmas through the ages\, inspired by the much-loved song The Twelve Days of Christmas. \nDiscover the games\, customs\, and traditions that have shaped our Christmas celebrations\, alongside fascinating Christmas stories and references found in journals\, literature\, and historical records. This promises to be a warm\, entertaining\, and illuminating journey through Christmas past. \nTickets cost £12 per person. Pre-booking is essential\, spaces are limited. Tickets can be booked online here. In-person bookings in the Bookshop will be available soon. \nDoors open from 6:30pm-7:00pm\, a complimentary drink is served on arrival. Doors close at 7:00pm. As we’re a small team\, latecomers may not be admitted. Tickets are non-refundable. \nPlease note – this event is not suitable for children under the age of 14. Children under 16 must be accompanied by an adult. \nThe event will be held on the first floor of the museum\, accessible only by stairs. Due to the building’s Grade I listed status\, we are unable to install a lift or ramp\, widen doorways\, or modify the handrails. We apologise for any inconvenience this may cause. \nPlease note: we do not resell tickets online\, and we are not affiliated with any third-party ticket sellers or social media resellers. DESCRIPTION:Join us for a very special storytime with Father Christmas! \nThis year\, Father Christmas will be sharing the tale of Samuel Johnson and his search for the definition of Christmas. \nThere’ll even be a chance for grown-ups to take a photo of their little ones with Father Christmas during the session. \nWhat to expect\n• A 30-minute festive story session with Father Christmas\n• The story of Samuel Johnson’s search for the definition of Christmas\n• A chance for adults to take photographs of their children with Father Christmas\n• A shared family experience\, with several families enjoying the session together\nPlease note this is a storytime experience rather than a traditional grotto visit. Father Christmas will be sharing his story with the whole group\, so there won’t be individual one-to-one time\, or a private grotto visit with each family. \nImportant ticket information \nTickets are £5 per person. All adults and children aged 3 and over need their own ticket. Children under 3 (babes in arms) can attend for free and do not require a ticket. \nChildren must be accompanied by an adult at all times\, and adults must be accompanied by children\, this is a family event\, after all! \nTickets must be pre-booked through our website.
